About the Society

We are a friendly society of between 40-50 singers, who welcome all new members, especially tenors and basses at the beginning of each session - September, January or April. Founded in 1898 singing regularly and performing a wide range of choral music from the 16th to 21st centuries. Some of our concerts are accompanied by our own orchestra - The Sandwich Sinfonia. Although the Choral Society is a Registered Charity it exists primarily so that members can enjoy music making.

The Sandwich and District Choral Society gives four concerts a year in several different venues, the majority of concerts being performed in the Church of St. Clement's Sandwich. These include a major Autumn concert in November, a Carol Concert in December, another major Spring Concert in March and a light concert in May/June for a specific charity usually local to Sandwich.

Other activities include" A Food Bring and Buy" sale at the end of a rehearsal and a sociable "Nosh and Knowledge" quiz night event to boost our funds.

We are particularly grateful to Sandwich Town Council who support us generously and to our long standing Patrons.

The Sandwich & District Choral Society is sponsored by the following local organisations and businesses to whom we offer our grateful thanks:-
Paul Hunt Photography, The Bell Hotel Sandwich, Brewers of Sandwich, TR & C Carpenter, Collection of Sandwich, Lady Elegance of Sandwich, G W Finn & Sons, The Little Beauty Parlour, Quex Park Estates, Sandwich Town Council, The Sweet Shop Sandwich, Val Gould Gallery &  Framers.
