Brief History

Sandwich and District Choral Society was founded in 1898.
In early 1950 the society was reformed with 50 members and had several conductors some associated with Sir Roger Manwood's School.
In 1972 our present accompanist became conductor and during that time Peter Pears came to sing in Britten's St. Nicholas with Joseph Cornwell, who sings frequently on BBC3.
In 1982 Richard Baker was the narrator in Honegger's King David. Catherine Wyn Rogers also sang with the choir while a student in the Royal College of music. She now appears with several opera companies through out the UK.
Recently our soloists have come from Canterbury Cathedral and Christ Church College University.
